RFID+ Class Descriptions

This is the world's first Web Based Training offered as CompTIA Authorized Qualified Curriculum (CAQC).

RFID+ Introduction
This course introduction summarizes the nine classes and two practice exams for the RFID+ certification preparation track.  The nine classes include Interrogation Zone Basics, Testing and Troubleshooting, Standards and Regulations, Tag Knowledge, Design Selection, Installation, Site Analysis, RF Physics and RFID Peripherals.  Each class includes a pre and post-assessment knowledge quiz.

RFID+ Interrogation Zone Basics
Topics presented in this class on interrogators, also known as readers, include interrogator functionality, interrogator components, Input/Output devices, networking, interrogator types, configuration of interrogator zones, read zones, anti-collision protocols, dense interrogator environment and multiple interrogator installations.  This class includes a pre-assessment and post-assement knowledge quiz.

RFID+ Testing and Troubleshooting
This class focuses on troubleshooting techniques used to isolate and repair RFID system issues.  Specific topics include troubleshooting techniques, RFID troubleshooting, RFID read zone troubleshooting and read zone optimization.  This class includes a pre-assessment and post-assement knowledge quiz.

RFID+ Standards and Regulations
The Standards and Regulations class discusses the most relevant standards bodies and the applicable RFID standards.  The presentation focuses on RFID standards bodies, RFID standards, RFID EPCglobal introduction, EPCglobal architecture framework, EPCglobal tagging standards, government regulations, human safety regulations adn RoHS.  This class includes a pre-assessment and post-assement knowledge quiz.

RFID+ Tag Knowledge
The Tag Knowledge class delves deep into the interworking of RFID transponders, also known as tags.  This class focuses on tags versus bar codes, tag anatomy, tag communication techniques, tag frequencies, tag classifications, tag power sources, tag features, tag placement and tag placement testing.  This class includes a pre-assessment and post-assement knowledge quiz.

RFID+ Design Selection
The Design Selection class presents criteria necessary to evaluate read distance, write distance, tag response time and storage capacity across different tag frequencies and types (active/passive).  This class discusses frequency selection, tag selection, reader selection, antenna selection, triggering devices and tag separation.  This class includes a pre-assessment and post-assement knowledge quiz.

RFID+ Installation
The Installation class presents step by step instructions on to properly install a RFID system.  Topics include installation procedures, assembly, reader operation, antenna and cabling installation and post install troubleshooting.  This class includes a pre-assessment and post-assement knowledge quiz.

RFID+ Site Analysis
The Site Analysis class presents information on how to analyze environmental conditions using a six step site analysis process.  Topics include site analysis, RF interference analysis and isolating interferenc.  This class includes a pre-assessment and post-assement knowledge quiz.

RFID+ RF Physics
This class presents a detailed explanation of RF Physics concepts  that are necessary to understand the operation of RFID systems.  Lessons in this class include RF Theory of Operation, Electromagnetic Waves, Decibels, Path Loss Calculations and Read/Write Range.  This class includes a pre-assessment and post-assement knowledge quiz.

RFID+ Peripherals
This class covers related RFID accessories and peripheral equipment including RFID printers, ancillary devices, automated label applicators, feedback systems and real time location systems.  This class includes a pre-assessment and post-assement knowledge quiz.
